The Lord's Supper
(Served every Sunday)

Holy Communion is celebrated in, with and under the bread and wine Jesus gives us his body and blood for the forgiveness of sins and to strengthen our union with Him and one another.

Our Lord invites to His table those who repent of all sins, trust in Christ the Savior, believe in the real presence of His body and blood in, with and under the bread and wine, and forgives others as He loves and forgives us.

Those who do not know or accept the teachings of the Lutheran Church are invited to speak with the Pastor about joining the next adult instruction class so that they may become one with us in doctrine and receive the Sacrament for their blessing.

Spiritual Needs
Let us pray for you!

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God; that if we ask anything according to this will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked for.”                   1 John 5:14-15.

Intercession is a prayer of petition for the interests and needs of others. Just as the Holy Spirit intercedes for us according to the will of God so we also intercede. (Romans 8:26-27) The commitment to pray for others is a sacred privilege and is an example of faith in action.

If you would like us to pray for you, a family member or friend, or if you'd like to have a Pastoral visit from Pastor, please submit an email through the buttons below.

Holy Cross Recordings on LIVE365 Lutheran Radio

By Reverend Dr. Leon Roberts

This is a great example of the many offerings you can find as you listen to Our Redeemer Lutheran Radio!  You can download the LIVE365 app in the next section below.  Listen to Pastor Leon's recording of the Apostle's Creed below.  We you hope you will join us in supporting this awesome way in spreading the Good News to others.  Listen daily!

Listen 24/7 as we continually add new programs for inspirational listening.

Our goal is to take the Law and Gospel worldwide and involve our area sister churches too. We can Livestream our services over the Internet, YouTube and other media making the possibilities enormous. Eventually, we will have a television studio too and people everywhere in the world will be able to tune in and hear the word of God taught, Lutheran Hymns and much more. Specialty shows can be made and recorded for later broadcast or done live.

Imagine 24 hours a day being able to tune in and hear the word and music of the LCMS no matter where you are.  (By Pastor Leon Roberts)  Check it out to the right!

Our Mission

Holy Cross Lutheran Church is God's family gathered together around God's Word and Sacrament, dedicated to sharing the love and forgiveness of God that is ours through our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. The ministry of Holy Cross is committed to bringing Christ Jesus to the community, to educating people about their Savior through Sunday School, Youth Ministry, Adult Education, and serving the community in its social needs.

Church History

In 1953 interest was expressed in starting an LCMS congregation in the Arlington area of Jacksonville. Land for the new church was purchased in October of that year and ground was broken in September 1954.  The cornerstone of Holy Cross Chapel was placed into position on January 23, 1955.  As Holy Cross grew, a Christian Day School was started and an education building with gym was dedicated in 1961.  In 1968 the present Church sanctuary was dedicated.

Our Beliefs

As a Lutheran Church we believe that Jesus Christ alone rules us all through the Bible Scriptures and saves us by grace through faith.  We honor the ancient fathers of the Church, confess the ancient creeds, and worship with the historical liturgies. We gladly and freely use the whole Church's heritage of hymns and traditions with which Christians have exalted their Savior for over two thousand years.
